My name is Claudine, and I am a special education service coordinator and ELA teacher on the Hillcrest campus. This is my third year at Hillcrest, my tenth year in middle school and my thirty-first year teaching special education. I have a BA.E. in special education with endorsements in early childhood and structured English immersion. I also have a Masters Degree in counseling.
I have had the opportunity to teach in many different models of special education, from a learning center, to team teaching through inclusive practices and to a total inclusion school.
I am married and have two children, a girl and a boy. My daughter graduated from UNLV and my son graduated from NAU. I also have two cats that I consider family!
In my spare time, I like to do crosswords/logic puzzles, watch college football (GO PENN!) and hang out with my husband and kids when they are home. My guilty pleasure is watching the reality drama series Below Deck. My dream hobby is to snorkel all of the seas in the world.
Besides being a teacher, I have had the adventure of being a parent of a child in special education, as my daughter was identified earlier in her school years. Even as a teacher trained in special education, this process was very scary. I am here, not only to help your child, but to support you, the parent!
I truly believe that we are a TEAM working together to set your child up for academic success!
Here's to a GREAT year!!
